Built in the early 1920s, this large-ring Mauser 98 retains its charger-clip hump and is configured with a turned-down butterknife bolt handle, a hinged floorplate and triggerguard assembly, and an internal 5-round box magazine. The receiver is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER – OBERNDORF A/N," and the caliber inscription reads "30, U.S.G. 1906 Mod. Mauser."
The 24-inch round barrel carries a long matted top rib to reduce glare and an island express rear sight with a standing leaf and a folding leaf marked 200 and 300. Up front, a ramped bead front sight provides a clear aiming point. This classic sighting setup complements the rifle’s interwar sporting configuration.
Controls and firing features include a Mauser flag safety and double set triggers. These elements reflect period German sporting practice and support precise shot execution when desired.
The walnut stock presents fine details: a shadowline cheekpiece, wraparound grip checkering, elongated forend side panels, a small oval inlay escutcheon, and a steel checkered buttplate. A continental sling arrangement places a side sling bar/loop on the left butt with a barrel-mounted front sling eye beneath the barrel. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
