The 18.5-inch stainless barrel uses Ballard-type rifling with a 1:20 twist and a crowned, unthreaded muzzle. This Ilion-era configuration pairs with the stainless receiver and hardware for durability and weather resistance, while maintaining the classic 1895 profile.
A factory long rail runs over the receiver and barrel and incorporates the ghost-ring rear sight. Combined with the ramped front blade, the sight picture is fast and clear, and the rail accommodates forward or conventional optics if desired.
The rifle retains signature SBL handling features, including an enlarged big-loop lever for gloved use, a side-eject, solid-top receiver, and a full-length tubular magazine with a 5-round capacity. Safety features include a cross-bolt safety and hammer block.
