The Model 660 uses Remington’s short push-feed action with an internal 4-round magazine (4+1) and a two-position safety. Its 20-inch steel barrel has a sporter taper, making the rifle handy while retaining the accuracy potential the .222 Rem is known for.
The walnut stock has a Monte Carlo comb and cut checkering for a steady hold. Accents include a black fore-end tip, a black pistol-grip cap with a white diamond inlay, and a Remington hard buttplate. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
Sighting equipment includes a ramped front sight and an installed Redfield 4x fixed-power scope with a simple crosshair reticle, mounted in rings with base(s). This setup provides a clean, straightforward sight picture appropriate for the cartridge and barrel length.
Markings include “Remington MODEL 660” on the receiver and “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. .222 REM.” on the barrel. Built in the USA and produced from 1968 to 1971, the Model 660 succeeded the Model 600 and continued Remington’s short “Three Rings of Steel” action lineage.
The rifle also retains the model’s hallmark forward-swept dog-leg bolt handle.
