Factory-built as the SKS-D variant, this rifle is designed for detachable AK-pattern magazines and uses an AK-style paddle magazine catch. It retains the SKS stripper-clip guide, offering loading flexibility in line with this model’s original configuration.
As a pre-1989 import, it remains in the classic configuration with a folding spike bayonet and standard 20.5 inch barrel. The rifle carries dual importer rollmarks—CHINA SPORTS, INC. DAL. TX USA and CSI L.A. CA—placing it in the 1988–1989 import window and adding clear provenance.
Construction is steel with a blued finish on the major metal components, while the bolt and bolt carrier are left in the white. The hardwood stock includes an inletted bayonet channel, and the wooden upper handguard features three cooling slots.
Controls are straightforward: a paddle-style magazine release and a manual safety integrated as a trigger-guard lever. The action is semi-automatic using a short-stroke gas piston with a tilting-bolt system. Sighting is via a protected post front and an adjustable tangent rear leaf.
Additional details appreciated by collectors include the matching serial numbers across key components and the clean, well-defined bore. These traits, combined with the pre-ban configuration and dual import marks, underscore this SKS-D’s appeal and traceable history.
