Built in the United States and marked "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL," this Model 12 represents the robust steel-and-walnut construction that defines the line. The blued steel receiver and barrel pair with walnut furniture for a traditional look and solid feel.
The 26 in plain steel barrel was originally marked "MOD" and is now equipped with an aftermarket adjustable, ported choke/muzzle device, giving the user adjustable choke settings. The chamber is 2 3/4 in. A single front bead provides a straightforward sighting reference.
Its takedown two-piece barrel/magazine/receiver design enhances portability and storage, and this example has matching serial numbers on the receiver and barrel extension. The action is pump-operated with an internal hammer.
The walnut stock features a semi-pistol grip and a Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad with a white-line spacer. The grooved "corncob"-style slide handle offers a secure grasp. Length of pull is 13.5 in.
Additional configuration details include a blued finish, a plain (no vent rib) barrel profile, and a listed capacity of 2+1.
