The Yank Sheriff Deluxe Special pairs the compact sheriff-length 5 inch, wedge-retained octagonal barrel with the open-top 1851 Navy pattern. It is a single-action, cap-and-ball percussion revolver with a 6-shot cylinder, styled after the Colt 1851 Navy; unlike the original .36-caliber, 7.5 inch Colt, this modern variant is .44 caliber with a 5 inch “Sheriff” barrel length.
The "Yank" designation identifies the steel-framed variant, complemented by a polished steel (in-the-white) finish and black laminate wood grips. Fixed sights consist of a brass cone front and a hammer-notch rear for a traditional sight picture.
This Deluxe Special carries factory-applied scroll engraving on the frame and barrel flats, along with the classic naval battle scene on the cylinder bearing the "ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843" legend. Markings include "BLACK POWDER ONLY .44 CAL" and "MADE IN ITALY," with CIP and Italian proof marks confirming its proof status.
Manufactured in 2022 and distributed in the U.S. by Traditions Performance Firearms, this recent-release example is identified by Pietta mfg part number FR185135. The factory box end label corresponds to the revolver’s serial on the label, providing clear packaging-to-firearm continuity that buyers appreciate. Made in Italy.
