The 84BB uses a blowback, DA/SA action with an external hammer, giving the shooter both double-action first-shot capability and a crisp single-action follow-up. A frame-mounted manual safety, firing pin block, half-cock notch, and a loaded-chamber indicator provide a well-rounded safety suite. The left-side push-button magazine release offers familiar, intuitive operation.
Its nickel finish is applied to both the slide and alloy frame, a variant noted as less common within the 80-Series lineup. The open-top slide with rear serrations enhances ejection reliability and provides a distinctive Beretta profile. Grooved front and back straps add purchase without bulk.
Sights are fixed iron, with an integral ramped front blade and a dovetailed square-notch rear.
