The Model 9 uses a semi-automatic, direct blowback action with right-side ejection and a cylindrical charging handle. Safety and control features include a cross-bolt safety, a manual bolt hold-open, and a last-round bolt hold-open.
Its 16.5 inch carbon-steel barrel employs Marlin Micro-Groove rifling and ends at an unthreaded muzzle. Sights are practical and easy to read: a ramped front blade with an orange insert paired with a folding rear leaf that offers elevation steps.
