The Fieldmaster action is designed to run .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle interchangeably, with a 15-round capacity when loaded with .22 LR in its under-barrel tubular magazine. Right-side ejection and loading are built into the receiver for straightforward operation.
The 22.75-inch steel barrel is paired with open sights: a plain blade front and a rear leaf with a stepped elevator for elevation adjustments. It uses a single action bar pump and a knurled magazine cap with a magazine hanger.
Construction combines a blued finish with a black-finished aluminum alloy receiver. The hardwood stock features a straight-comb, uncheckered pistol-grip layout and is matched to a ribbed/grooved wood fore-end. A black Remington hard-composition buttplate with a circular Remington insert completes the furniture. Length of pull is 13.5 inches.
Markings include "Remington Fieldmaster MODEL 572" on the receiver and a barrel roll-mark referencing patent 2,675,638. A Remington barrel date/proof code fragment "...EF" is visible. Safety is managed by a cross-bolt safety. Made in the United States.
