Built by Howa for Weatherby in the mid-1980s, this Mark V Deluxe carries the South Gate, Calif. Made in Japan markings and the H-prefix serial that identifies its Japanese production era. It combines the refined Weatherby Deluxe aesthetic with the robust Mark V magnum action.
The action uses Weatherby’s 9-lug magnum bolt with a fluted body and three gas-relief holes. A two-position safety on the bolt shroud includes a red fire indicator. The internal magazine provides a 3+1 capacity in .300 Weatherby Magnum.
The 24-inch sporter-contour barrel is finished in high-polish blue and wears a recessed crown. There are no iron sights, and the barrel is marked "USE ONLY WEATHERBY 300 W.M." to indicate the correct chambering.
The high-gloss walnut Monte Carlo stock features a right-hand cheekpiece, a rosewood forend tip and pistol-grip cap with white-line spacers and a white diamond inlay, and crisp cut skip-line checkering. A ventilated Weatherby recoil pad and a 13.5-inch length of pull round out the classic Deluxe configuration.
The receiver is drilled and tapped, with two-piece bases and 30 mm rings installed and ready for the buyer’s optic of choice.
