What’s Included
- Husqvarna Gevär m/38B bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5x55 Swedish
Receiver-dated 1942, this m/38B short rifle reflects Husqvarna’s wartime production with the receiver ring marked HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAG. It is made in Sweden and retains the small-ring Mauser receiver with stripper-clip guide, the non-rotating claw extractor, and a three-position wing safety.
The 24 inch barrel has an externally threaded muzzle specifically for the Swedish blank-firing/wood-bullet training device. Sighting is via the m/38 pattern open tangent rear sight with sliding notch, calibrated to 600 m, paired with an unhooded front blade.
The bolt-action system is cock-on-closing, and the rifle uses an internal 5-round box magazine loaded via stripper clips. This example is fitted with a straight bolt handle left in the white; on a 1942 Husqvarna m/38B this indicates a non-original m/96/96-38 type replacement, as new-production HVA m/38 rifles were produced with turned-down/bent bolts.
Furniture is M96/96-38-style: a full-length hardwood finger-groove stock and short handguard, the standard m/38 front band set back from the muzzle with a projecting stacking hook, and a separate, screwed-on cleaning-rod retainer under the forend, plus a steel buttplate, sling swivels, and a brass stock disc with Swedish text. This differs from the typical HVA m/38 no-groove stock that did not use an under-barrel cleaning rod. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches, and the receiver is steel for durability.
