This first-generation M77 uses the original two-position tang safety and a right-hand, two-lug bolt with a turned-down knob and external bolt release. It is the Standard Rifle (M77R) sporter configuration with a 22-inch blued barrel and an internal 4-round capacity.
The action is a push-feed design with an external claw extractor and a plunger ejector. The receiver presents a bright in-the-white/polished steel finish and includes integral Ruger dovetail scope bases at the front and rear. There are no factory iron sights.
The walnut stock has a straight comb, cut checkering, and a Ruger-logo recoil pad with a black spacer. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Made in the USA during the 1980s era, this example bears the circled R stamp on the barrel forward of the receiver ring. It presents as a classic, full-size Ruger sporter in a fast .22-250 Remington chambering.
