The Model 627-5 V-Comp is a Performance Center build with an eight-shot N-frame cylinder and a 5-inch weighted, slab-sided barrel shroud. The shroud is roll-marked "PERFORMANCE CENTER," and the right side carries the ".357 MAG‑V8" marking that denotes the eight-shot configuration. The cylinder is matte stainless with scalloped flutes and eight charge holes.
Construction is stainless steel throughout with a blackened finish on the frame and barrel shroud, paired with a matte stainless cylinder and muzzle unit for a purposeful two-tone look. Controls include a chromed wide-spur hammer and a smooth-face trigger. Rubber finger-groove grips with molded S&W logos provide a secure hold.
The V-Comp system includes an interchangeable vented compensator and a plain nose cap, allowing the shooter to configure the muzzle unit as desired. The barrel shroud incorporates a relief window and added mass for balance, while the system’s removable components make cleaning and setup straightforward.
An optics base is installed on the topstrap with a Trijicon SRO red-dot (2.5 MOA, red) mounted. The factory adjustable rear sight is not present in this configuration, and the pinned orange-insert front ramp remains in place for a clear reference point. This package also includes a Picatinny rail segment and a Performance Center soft zip case.
