Product Description

Savage Model 99E .308 Win Lever-Action Rifle, 22 Inch Barrel, 1961 Production, Blued, Open Sights

This 1961 Savage Model 99E is a classic U.S.-made lever-action chambered in .308 Win with the Model 99's signature internal rotary magazine and brass cartridge-count window. It features a 22 inch round steel barrel, right-side ejection, and factory open sights, with the receiver and barrel ring drilled and tapped for scope bases. A fitted black recoil pad and installed sling-swivel studs add practical updates to its hardwood stock.

    Condition

    Overall Condition: Poor condition.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There is a large crack at the top of the stock where the wood meets the receiver. The action is very tight and requires significant effort to open and cycle. The safety does not engage properly, and the trigger releases with the safety engaged.

    What’s Included
    • Savage Arms Model 99E .308 Win lever-action rifle

The Model 99E design pairs a lever-action with a hammerless internal striker, a solid-frame receiver, and right-side ejection. Its internal rotary magazine includes a brass cartridge-count window, and this example is marked on the barrel for .308 WIN with a 5+1 capacity.

The rifle wears a 22 inch round steel barrel with a blued finish and factory markings reading "HI-PRESSURE STEEL - PROOF TESTED." Sighting is via a ramped front blade and a rear leaf with a stepped elevator for elevation adjustment.

The receiver and barrel ring are drilled and tapped for scope bases, offering straightforward mounting options if desired.

The hardwood stock has a semi-pistol grip, a raised comb, and an uncheckered, rounded forend tip. Custom updates include a fitted black recoil pad and sling-swivel studs. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.

Made in the United States in 1961, this Model 99E retains the configuration that made the series notable in mid-century hunting rifles while being chambered in the widely available .308 Winchester.
