The SP101 is built on a one-piece, investment-cast stainless-steel frame without a sideplate, giving it a solid foundation for dependable performance. Ruger’s triple-locking cylinder system secures the cylinder at the front, rear, and bottom for consistent alignment.
Its compact profile pairs a 2.25" stainless barrel with a full underlug and ejector-rod shroud. Fixed sights include a ramped blade front with a single dot and an integral rear notch in the top strap for a low-profile, snag-resistant setup.
The revolver operates in double-action/single-action with an exposed spurred hammer and a smooth-faced trigger. A transfer-bar safety is incorporated into the action.
Controls and materials are all stainless, including the frame and cylinder, finished in a brushed/satin stainless look. The one-piece rubber grip with polymer panels provides a secure hold, and the revolver carries the Ruger phoenix logo rollmark on the frame with the RUGER NEWPORT, NH USA address/warning on the barrel.
Chambered in .357 Magnum with a 5-round cylinder, it is also compatible with .38 Special ammunition. This example was manufactured in 2013 and is made in the United States.
