As a discontinued model, the P227R marks a notable point in SIG Sauer history as the first double-stack .45 ACP in the Classic P-Series. This full-size "R" variant was introduced in 2013 and saw early law-enforcement adoption, including by the Indiana State Police.
The pistol pairs a stainless-steel slide with an aluminum-alloy frame, both finished at the factory in Flat Dark Earth. The slide carries rear serrations and the observed markings "SIG SAUER P227," "SIG SAUER, INC. EXETER-NH-USA," and ".45 ACP SIG."
It uses a short-recoil, locked-breech DA/SA action with a decocking lever and a spurred external hammer. The 4.4-inch barrel and 10+1 capacity are complemented by three included 10-round magazines that are marked "MADE IN ITALY."
Ergonomics and sighting features include the one-piece textured black E2-style grip and dovetailed front and rear sights. The dust cover integrates a four-slot accessory rail. The factory case label is dated 12-FEB-2014.
