This BREN S1 configuration pairs a robust short-stroke gas piston system with a two-position adjustable gas regulator, delivering the proven characteristics of the Czech service pattern in a semi-automatic carbine. The barrel is cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, and threaded, with a 1:7 twist to stabilize a wide range of 5.56mm NATO projectiles, and is capped with the factory birdcage flash hider.
Controls and ergonomics are thoroughly modern: an ambidextrous safety selector, a reciprocating charging handle that is side-swappable and can be used as a forward assist, and a modular, interchangeable magazine well system with the AR-15/STANAG magwell installed. The stock is polymer, side-folding, and telescoping with four positions and an integrated cheekpiece, providing an adjustable length of pull of approximately 13–15.5 inches.
The upper receiver is a one-piece forged/machined aluminum unit mated to a two-piece polymer lower, with a vented handguard that includes a 6 o’clock Picatinny rail and a full-length 12 o’clock Picatinny top rail. Folding iron sights are included from the factory, with a height-adjustable front and a windage-adjustable rear.
Origin markings and inspections are clearly present: Made in Czech Republic, CZ-USA Kansas City, KS import mark, and Czech proof/inspection marks (including an encircled P and a triangular mark). The serial number is repeated on the receiver, bolt, and gas-block band, consistent with factory practice for this model.
