Springfield Armory Model 1903 .30-06, 24 in Barrel, 1909 Production, Early-Pattern Low-Number Receiver, M1905 Ladder Sight
This 1909 Springfield Armory Model 1903 is an early-pattern example with several hallmark features collectors look for. It retains the straight S-stock with grasping grooves, a barrel-mounted M1905 ladder rear sight with blade front, and milled trigger guard and floorplate. The rifle is chambered in .30-06 with a 24-inch barrel and uses charger/stripper-clip loading for its internal 5-round magazine (5+1 capacity). The non-reflective gray metal finish and steel receiver complete a classic U.S.-made configuration from the pre-double heat-treat, low-number period.

Built by Springfield Armory in 1909, this Model 1903 reflects early-production traits, including the low-number receiver configuration from the pre-double heat-treat era. It is chambered in .30-06 and features a 24-inch barrel, with a 13-inch length of pull for a classic military stock fit.
The rifle retains its barrel-mounted M1905 ladder rear sight paired with a blade front sight on a pinned base. This sighting setup is correct for early M1903 rifles and provides a period-appropriate sight picture.
The full-length hardwood military stock includes grasping grooves and the straight S-stock profile. Milled components, including the trigger guard and floorplate, underscore the early-pattern build. The metal shows a non-reflective gray finish.
Operation is via a smooth bolt-action with an internal 5-round magazine, and the design accepts charger/stripper-clip loading for efficient recharging. The receiver is steel, and the rifle was manufactured in the United States.
