The Model 66-2 is a stainless Combat Magnum built on the K-Frame, here configured with a 2.5" heavy-profile barrel, integral serrated rib, and a shrouded ejector rod. It features a six-shot fluted cylinder and a round-butt grip frame. The action is double-action/single-action with a smooth-faced trigger and an exposed hammer with a hammer-mounted firing pin. The barrel rib has been drilled and tapped with plug screws installed (aftermarket modification).
Sighting equipment includes a ramp front sight with a red/orange insert and a micrometer-adjustable square-notch rear sight. Controls include a checkered cylinder latch and a checkered hammer spur for confident manipulation.
This 66-2 reflects engineering updates of its era, including an unpinned barrel and a non-recessed cylinder. It is a pre-MIM revolver with no internal lock. The stainless-steel frame, cylinder, and barrel deliver durable construction and a corrosion-resistant finish.
Made in the United States in 1987, this example bears a serial prefix of AWW consistent with late-1980s production. It is fitted with aftermarket Pachmayr Presentation/Compac wrap-around grips, and the original Smith & Wesson wood grips with medallions are included.
