The Model 1895XLR is a stainless, solid-top, side-eject lever gun chambered in .45-70 Govt and built with a 24 inch round stainless barrel. The barrel features a 1:20 RH twist to stabilize common .45-70 bullet weights and a ramp front sight; sight hood configuration as shown. The tubular magazine has a factory-rated 4+1 capacity.
Its receiver, barrel, magazine tube, lever, and trigger guard plate are finished in a satin/brushed stainless. The laminated hardwood stock and fore-end have diamond-pattern cut checkering, a fluted comb, a pistol-grip profile, and a recoil pad. Approximate factory specs list weight at about 7.0 lb and overall length at about 42.5 inches.
This rifle carries the JM proof mark and a North Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A. rollmark. Safety features include a cross-bolt, hammer-block safety. The action is the proven lever-action design associated with the 1895 series.
Field-ready additions include a one-piece Picatinny/Weaver rail with 1 inch rings and a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40mm scope with a BDC reticle for practical holdovers. A hammer spur extension improves hammer access around the optic, and quick-detach sling swivels with a camo sling are already installed.
