Made in Belgium by FN for Browning Arms Company, this Superposed Lightning carries Belgian proof marks (including the Perron tower) and star-over-letter controller stamps. The barrel address reads "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. – MADE IN BELGIUM," confirming its FN Belgian manufacture.
The receiver shows factory scroll engraving with "Lightning – BROWNING" on the underside. The traditional Superposed profile is paired with checkered walnut furniture and a pistol-grip stock. A single front bead tops the vent rib with a matted surface to reduce glare.
Chambered for 2 3/4 in shells, the 26.5 in over/under barrels are retrofitted for Briley screw-in chokes, with 2 Briley chokes installed. A single, gold-colored trigger complements the Lightning configuration. Capacity is 2.
The stock is tailored for right-handed shooters with a RH palmswell and cast-off. A Limbsaver recoil pad is installed, setting length of pull at 14.0 in while adding shooter comfort.
Produced in 1971, this example sits within the well-known Belgian salt wood era and represents John M. Browning’s final shotgun design lineage. Its Belgian provenance, factory engraving, and thoughtful choke and recoil updates make it a strong choice for both use and collection.
