Built for precision with wadcutter ammunition, the Model 52-2 is chambered specifically for .38 Special Mid-Range, as marked on the barrel. Its single-action-only, recoil-operated system and crisp target trigger are complemented by a serrated spur hammer and a manual safety.
The sighting setup is tailored for target work: a ramped front blade with an orange/red insert and a S&W micrometer adjustable rear sight. The slide carries rear serrations and a matte anti-glare top to reduce glare across the sighting plane.
Construction is all carbon steel with a polished blued finish on the frame and slide. Checkered walnut grips with S&W medallions provide a classic, secure hold. The 5-inch barrel is crowned to help protect the muzzle.
