Manufactured in the United States in 1945, this M1911A1 reflects a late-war configuration from Remington Rand, the largest WWII producer of the model. The slide bears the correct two-line "REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." marking, and the frame is rollmarked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY."
The pistol features a 5-inch Government-profile carbon steel barrel, carbon steel frame and slide, and a wartime Parkerized matte grey finish. Vertical rear slide serrations and a standard un-lowered ejection port complete the GI slide configuration.
Controls and ergonomics are classic A1: a short, grooved trigger with A1 frame relief cuts, an arched, serrated mainspring housing with lanyard loop, a grip safety with extended A1 tang, and a spur, checkered hammer. Safety features include a thumb safety and grip safety.
Sighting equipment consists of fixed GI sights with a narrow staked front blade and a dovetailed square-notch rear. Brown checkered plastic grips complete the period look. The pistol is chambered in .45 ACP with a 7+1 capacity and uses a single-action, locked-breech tilting barrel system.
