The P226 S Sport is a purpose-built SAO variant with an SAO trigger and ambidextrous manual safety, paired with an external spur hammer. Its full-size frame features an extended beavertail and a long, heavy dust cover with machined longitudinal grooves for added front-end mass. The front strap has longitudinal (vertical) serrations, and the backstrap texture is provided via the grip panels, which are black textured polymer with SIG SAUER logos.
The 4.9-inch heavy-profile barrel uses a recessed crown, while the slide incorporates a heavy muzzle section with both front and rear cocking serrations. Low-profile 3-dot iron sights are set in dovetails: a front post and a square-notch rear, allowing precise, durable alignment.
Markings and proofs confirm its German origin: the slide is marked "P226 S" and "DE," with German nitro proof (eagle over N) and DE country mark present. The barrel hood is marked "9mm Para." Matching serials are noted on the slide and frame, and the pistol carries the SIG SAUER INC., EXETER – NH import mark.
