Originally manufactured as a Dragoon rifle and later arsenal-updated to M91/30 standard, this example reflects its service life with the desirable early hex receiver. The barrel shank shows the Tula star over the full Cyrillic factory legend and the 1927g date, documenting its interwar Tula origin.
The rifle is chambered in 7.62x54R and retains the long 29 in barrel associated with Dragoon/M91-length rifles. The muzzle is threaded and fitted with a short cylindrical thread protector with twin spanner holes. It uses an integral 5-round internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate and a straight bolt handle, matching the classic configuration.
Sighting equipment includes a hooded post front sight and a tangent rear sight with a spring-loaded slider. The full-length hardwood stock with an arsenal shellac finish features a finger groove, a metal-lined fore-end sling slot and an unlined (bare wood) buttstock sling slot, and two spring-retained barrel bands, with a separate top handguard for heat protection.
The receiver is blued steel, consistent with the rifle’s overall blued finish. Import information is cleanly applied on the left receiver: 'M91/30 RUSSIA 7.62 x 54R C.A.I. GEORGIA, VT.' These markings, combined with the Tula legends, provide clear provenance and identification.
