The FPC’s side-folding design uses a lateral hinge and latch that allows the carbine to fold without disturbing the full-length top rail. Folded, it measures 16 3/8 in; unfolded, it is 30 3/8 in. Weight is approximately 5.03 lb, making it compact and easy to transport.
The 16.25 in 4140 steel barrel has a black-oxide finish, a 1:10 twist, and 1/2x28 threads with a thread protector. The bore and rifling are excellent, supporting the carbine’s clean internal condition.
Operating on a straight blowback system, the FPC uses a stainless bolt and an integrated recoil buffer system. Controls include a rear charging handle and a flat-faced trigger. Length of pull is 14.5 in.
The polymer frame/chassis mates with a free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard that provides durable mounting surfaces, with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock and a full-length Picatinny top rail. No iron sights are installed. The polymer stock is fixed and incorporates quick-release dual magazine storage with a retention strap. It accepts double-stack M&P pistol magazines; the extended magazines use polymer sleeves with steel bodies and polymer baseplates.
