Colt Single Action Army Second Generation .38 Special, 5.5-Inch, 1959, Blued/Color Case-Hardened, 6-Shot
This Second Generation Colt Single Action Army, manufactured in 1959, is chambered in .38 Special with the classic 5.5-inch barrel. It features a blued and color case-hardened finish, a six-shot fluted cylinder, and fixed sights. The bore condition is excellent, and the revolver presents in very good overall shape with only light handling evidence.
Markings are correct for a Second Generation Colt. The left barrel rollmark reads "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL," and the top address shows "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.
HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." The revolver also carries the SA serial suffix associated with Second Generation production.
Built on Colt’s standard steel Single Action Army frame with a spring-loaded transverse cylinder base-pin latch, this SAA combines a blued barrel and cylinder with a color case-hardened frame and receiver. The standard ejector rod and housing sit on the right side, and the grip frame exhibits a bright-polished appearance.
Sighting is traditional and fixed, with a blade front and a square-notch milled into the topstrap for the rear. Factory-style two-piece checkered hard-rubber grips with a molded Rampant Colt oval round out the period-correct configuration.
Mechanically, it is a six-shot, single-action-only revolver with a fluted cylinder. The loading gate shows internal assembly number "471," consistent with Colt’s manufacturing practices of the era.
