Designed by John M. Browning, the Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless is a compact, steel-framed .380 ACP that became a benchmark for early 20th-century concealed-carry pistols. This example was manufactured in 1934, placing it within the classic interwar production period of the Model M series.
It operates via simple blowback and is single-action only with an internal hammer. The safety system includes both a grip safety and a manual thumb safety. A heel-type magazine catch complements the design, and the standard capacity is 7+1 rounds.
The slide is configured with vertical rear serrations, no front serrations, and a disassembly notch. Field-stripping is accomplished by aligning the slide notch and rotating the barrel through the ejection port, a hallmark of this pattern.
Fixed sights are integral to the slide, with a blade front and notch rear. The pistol retains the model’s signature checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions and features the period-correct two-line slide legends.
