The 336C carbine layout pairs a 20-inch barrel with two barrel bands and a full-length tubular magazine to the muzzle, providing a 5+1 capacity in .30-30 Winchester. It retains the right-side loading gate and side ejection associated with the solid-top Marlin receiver.
This pre-safety configuration omits the later cross-bolt safety and uses a half-cock notch and a lever-actuated trigger block safety. The receiver top and left side are drilled and tapped and currently fitted with plug screws, adding flexibility for sighting options within the classic solid-top, side-eject design.
The steel barrel uses Marlin's Micro-Groove rifling. Sighting is through iron sights: a hooded ramp front and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear, maintaining a traditional field-ready sight picture.
Furniture and controls include a pistol-grip hardwood buttstock with a black Marlin logo hard-rubber buttplate and a matching wood fore-end. The gold-colored trigger and external hammer are complemented by the installed hammer spur extension for easier manipulation. The receiver and barrel wear a blued finish.
