The SP101’s solid stainless-steel construction includes a satin/brushed finish, a five-chamber fluted cylinder, and a full underlug that protects the ejector rod. The compact 2.25-inch barrel and five-round capacity deliver a durable, small-frame revolver built on Ruger’s solid-frame design without a sideplate, using coil-spring lockwork.
Action and controls are straightforward and robust: double-action/single-action with an exposed hammer, a transfer bar safety system, and Ruger’s left-side push-button cylinder release. The cylinder uses a triple-locking system at the front, rear, and bottom for secure alignment.
Sights are fixed, with a pinned serrated ramp front and an integral topstrap groove rear. The pinned front sight allows easy blade swaps. Factory black rubber grips with black polymer insert panels provide the stock configuration.
