Sako AV 7mm Rem. Mag. Bolt-Action Rifle, 24.4 in Barrel, Blued, Walnut Monte Carlo Stock, Finland
This Sako AV is a Finnish-made long-action bolt rifle in 7mm Rem. Mag., produced during the AV era circa 1981–1992. It features a 24.4 inch sporter-profile barrel, a blued finish, and a select walnut stock with Monte Carlo comb and shadow-line cheekpiece. The action integrates tapered dovetail scope bases and anti-glare checkered receiver bridges, with excellent bore and rifling noted.
The AV represents the final evolution of Sako’s classic L61R long action. This action includes a two-lug bolt with recessed face, a plunger ejector, and a Sako-style extractor, paired with a low-swept bolt handle for smooth cycling. The receiver’s integral tapered dovetail bases and checkered bridges are factory machined for secure, direct mounting and glare reduction.
The 24.4 inch sporter-profile barrel is cleanly finished with no iron sights, and the rifle carries a traditional blued finish. Controls include a two-position safety. Feeding is via an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, providing a 3+1 capacity in 7mm Rem. Mag.
The walnut stock blends strength and handling with a Monte Carlo comb, shadow-line cheekpiece, and sharp cut checkering. Reinforcement includes a crossbolt, and QD sling swivel studs are installed. At the butt is a factory Sako orange rubber recoil pad with a black spacer and molded logo. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Proofed in Finland, this full-size AV shows the hallmark fit and machining associated with the series. The receiver markings include Finnish proof marks. Overall condition and bore condition are both documented as excellent.
