Built at Izhevsk Arsenal in 1944, this M44 carbine retains its core wartime configuration: a round receiver, straight bolt, 20.5 in. barrel, and an integral right-side folding cruciform spike bayonet. It features a fixed internal magazine with a hinged floorplate and a blued steel receiver.
The rifle shows matching numbers across the receiver, barrel, bolt, and magazine. Soviet markings are present, including the Izhevsk arrow-in-triangle and the Soviet crest on the barrel shank. Import marks are present, including a Redmond, WA line and a 7.62x54R caliber mark. The barrel shank bears a Cyrillic prefix on its serial number.
Thoughtful sporterizing adds usability while preserving original character. An aftermarket rear aperture sight is mounted on the original tangent base, pairing with the hooded front post (painted orange) for a clear iron-sight picture. A rubber vented recoil pad extends the length of pull to 14.5 in.
The hardwood stock retains military features such as side sling slots with metal liners and two barrel bands.
