Made by Investarm S.r.l. in Italy, this Hawken is a reproduction muzzleloader with authentic styling and clear provenance. It carries the star-over-PN black-powder proof, the Gardone/Brescia proof-house crest, and the boxed two-letter date code "AN" for 1985. The barrel flat is marked "BLACK POWDER ONLY – MADE IN ITALY – CAL .54," and it bears the Investarm "I-in-square" maker's mark.
The 28" octagonal blued steel barrel features a 1:48 twist suited to traditional hunting and target loads in this caliber. Sighting is straightforward and practical, with a drift-adjustable steel blade front sight and an adjustable rear leaf with elevator. The bore is clean with well-defined rifling.
The right-hand percussion sidelock uses #11 percussion caps and incorporates a drum/snail with a clean-out screw. It is a single-shot percussion muzzleloader with double set triggers, providing a crisp, tunable release characteristic of the Hawken pattern.
Classic furniture and stock lines are present throughout. The hardwood half-stock includes an off-side cheekpiece, and brass furniture consists of a crescent buttplate, a large patchbox with ringed/oval lid and decorative finial, a trigger guard with finger spur, and a nose cap. One oval brass escutcheon is present, but the transverse barrel wedge key is missing, and a wooden ramrod with metal tip rides in two under-rib pipes.
Factory scroll engraving accents the lockplate and side-panel, complementing the blued finish and traditional Hawken aesthetics. This full-size rifle has a 14.25" length of pull and a 1-round capacity, staying true to the original style while offering well-executed Italian craftsmanship from the mid-1980s.
