The Model 4516-1 is a compact, metal-frame .45 ACP built with both slide and frame in matte stainless steel. The frame is rollmarked "MOD 4516-1," while the slide carries the maker's rollmark, and it uses rear slide serrations only. The rounded trigger guard and one-piece wraparound grips contribute to a secure, straightforward feel in the hand.
Its DA/SA action with an exposed hammer and ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker supports confident operation. The compact 3.75 in barrel balances concealability with control, and the platform weighs approximately 34 oz unloaded. There is no accessory rail, keeping the profile clean and traditional.
The sighting system uses a fixed 3-dot layout: a single white dot front sight paired with a two-dot Novak Lo-Mount rear. This setup offers a clear, consistent sight picture without added complexity.
The pistol wears one-piece Xenoy/synthetic wraparound grips with S&W medallions. Made in the USA, this Third-Generation design reflects S&W's established metal-frame construction in a compact .45 package.
