The FNX-40 is a full-size, DA/SA hammer-fired pistol with a manual safety/decocker and fully ambidextrous controls, including the safety/decocker, slide stop, and magazine release. Its exposed ring hammer and straightforward control layout support confident operation for both left- and right-handed users.
The 4-inch barrel uses a 1:16 left-hand twist with 6-groove rifling, documented on the factory test card dated 09/23/2013. The bore condition is excellent, and the pistol features an external extractor and front and rear cocking serrations for positive slide manipulation.
The black polymer frame includes interchangeable backstraps for grip fit, an integral multi-slot accessory rail on the dustcover, and a lanyard loop at the heel. The slide carries fixed, dovetailed 3-dot sights. Markings include "FNH USA Fredericksburg VA" on the slide and "MADE IN USA" on the frame, with the serial number plate located on the dustcover rail.
Capacity is 14+1 with steel double-stack magazines, and three 14-round magazines are included. The package is rounded out by the original FN factory hard case, owner's manual, backstrap spares, and the factory test card/envelope confirming the rifling data.
