The Auto-5 Light Twenty uses Browning’s long-recoil system with a friction ring, delivering the characteristic recoil impulse and reliability the design is known for. A magazine cut-off lever provides the ability to isolate the chamber from the tubular magazine when needed.
The receiver wears factory scroll engraving and a blued finish, matched to a 26-inch steel barrel with a ventilated and matted rib. Sight alignment is straightforward with the single brass front bead on the vent rib.
This example is chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells and has a tubular magazine with a 4+1 capacity. The screw-in choke system comes set up with an Improved Cylinder choke installed, and includes additional Modified and Full tubes to tailor patterns for upland or general field use.
The stock set is gloss-finished walnut with cut checkering and a pistol-grip profile, paired to a walnut fore-end. The trigger is gold-tone, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches, offering a compact, quick-handling feel on a true 20-gauge-scaled receiver.
Rollmarks include "Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q." with "Made in Japan," reflecting the high-quality Japanese production of this period. The iconic humpback receiver line and Light Twenty configuration make this a notable A5 variant for both use and collection.
