The Model 582 uses an under-barrel tubular magazine with a brass follower and knurled end cap. It is listed with a 20-round capacity and will feed .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle, offering flexibility for plinking, small game, or training roles.
Sighting equipment includes a ramped front sight with removable hood. The receiver has integral dovetail scope grooves, and this rifle is currently outfitted with a Bushnell Sportview 3-9x40 scope featuring a duplex reticle, mounted in tip-off rings. Rear sight configuration may vary.
Construction is straightforward and durable: a blued steel barrel and receiver paired with a hardwood stock. The stock has an uncheckered straight comb, semi-pistol grip, and a black buttplate, with a 13.4 in length of pull for a traditional .22 sporter fit.
Operation is via a right-hand bolt with a round knob for smooth cycling. The 24 in barrel provides a steady sight radius and supports the accuracy potential the .22 LR is known for in a bolt-action platform.
Made in the United States, the Model 582 was produced from 1967 to 1983 with approximately 90,708 manufactured. A Remington barrel date code can be used to determine the rifle’s assembly date for added historical context.
