This Smith & Wesson Model 29-3 is a high-polish blued N-frame .44 Magnum with a 6-inch barrel and adjustable sights, produced in the mid-1980s. The AFD-prefix serial indicates a 1984–1985 production window. As the 29-3 engineering change, it features the crush-fit barrel system that eliminated the earlier pinned barrel and recessed cylinder. It comes with aftermarket wraparound grips installed and includes the original factory target stocks and an extra Pachmayr set.

The Model 29-3 marks a key engineering change in the series, identified as "MOD. 29-3" in the yoke cut. This variant introduced the crush-fit barrel and did away with the previously pinned barrel and recessed cylinder while retaining the classic N-frame strength and balance that define the line.
The 6-inch carbon steel barrel features a serrated anti-glare top rib and a partial underlug, paired with a fluted 6-shot cylinder. Sights are purpose-built for precision: a ramped front sight with a red/orange insert and a micrometer-adjustable rear sight.
Controls and handling details include a double-action/single-action mechanism, a wide trigger, and a wide, checkered hammer spur. The frame and barrel are carbon steel with a high-polish blued finish that highlights the lines of the N-frame.
This revolver is configured with wraparound black rubber grips bearing gold-toned "P & Co" medallions. For flexibility, it also comes with the factory S&W checkered wood target grips and an extra set of Pachmayr finger-groove grips, plus a speedloader.
