Gas-operated and made in the United States during the 1956–1963 era, this Sportsman-58 is set up with a 2+1 capacity as designed for the model. It uses a cross-bolt safety and carries the "Remington Sportsman – 58" model marking. Oval REP proof/inspection marks are present.
The 26" ventilated rib barrel is stamped "MOD" and marked "12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS." A Lyman Cutts compensator is installed, and the rib/Cutts assembly provides a bead-style sighting setup.
Factory engraving highlights include an upland scene on the right side of the receiver and a waterfowl scene on the left, all over a blued finish. Patent numbers 2,645,873 and 2,675,638 are present on the barrel.
Furniture consists of a walnut pistol-grip stock and matching fore-end with cut diamond-pattern checkering and a grip-cap medallion. The shotgun is fitted with a Pachmayr ventilated recoil pad with a white-line spacer, yielding a 14.0" length of pull.
