The Optima V2 Thumbhole uses a break-action design with a trigger-guard breech lever, combining straightforward loading with reliable lockup. The 209 primer ignition system pairs with an exposed hammer for direct, positive operation. CVA's Quick-Release Breech Plug removes by hand for fast cleaning in the field or at the bench.
The 26-inch stainless steel barrel is fluted and finished in satin stainless to match the receiver. The barrel is marked "OPTIMA v2 .50 CAL Black Powder Only" with the CVA logo, and the receiver is marked "OPTIMA." An under-barrel PalmSaver ramrod is included, and there are no iron sights present, set up for scope use only.
The black synthetic thumbhole stock provides a steady, ergonomic grip, with textured panels for control and a CrushZone recoil pad for added comfort. A rear sling swivel stud is installed. The synthetic forend features molded checkering, and the length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
A Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 scope is installed on a one-piece base with rings, giving a clear, variable magnification sight picture tailored for muzzleloader hunting or range work. This scope-only setup complements the rifle's clean top end and aligns with the absence of iron sights.
