Built on the S&W N-frame with a square butt and a fluted six-shot cylinder, the Model 25-3 delivers classic big-bore configuration in .45 Colt. The carbon-steel frame wears a high-polish blue finish, complemented by a color case-hardened hammer and trigger and smooth target-style hardwood stocks with S&W medallions.
The 6.5 inch barrel combines a ribbed top with a partial underlug and a short ejector-rod shroud. Sights are fully adjustable, with a ramped front featuring a red/orange insert paired to a micrometer-adjustable rear, providing a clear, precise sight picture.
This commemorative is factory embellished with gold-inlaid barrel legends and a gold-filled 1852–1977 125 Years crest on the left sideplate. Markings include the Springfield, Massachusetts rollmark and standard S&W proofs, consistent with 1977 manufacture in the United States.
The 125th Anniversary series was produced for one year with a dedicated S&W0001–S&W10000 serial range and is recognized as an ATF C&R-listed commemorative. The run supported later standard .45 Colt N-frames, underscoring its place in the model line’s evolution.
