This XM15-E2S follows the A2-style 20-inch rifle pattern and is built on a lower receiver with the Windham, Maine "B.F.I." rollmark, a detail associated with Bushmaster's earlier production era. It is chambered in 5.56mm NATO and uses a direct impingement, semi-automatic action on the AR-15 platform.
The rifle is set up with iron sights: a triangular front sight base with a square post and a fixed carry handle rear aperture featuring an 8/3 elevation drum. An ejection port cover and an A2-style conical, ribbed delta ring handguard retainer are present, matching the classic configuration.
Furniture includes a fixed polymer stock with a 13.5 in length of pull, an A2-pattern pistol grip, and round, ribbed, rifle-length two-piece polymer handguards. Front and rear sling swivels are installed, and a bayonet lug is fitted at the front sight base.
The 20 in barrel is threaded and capped with a birdcage flash suppressor. Capacity is 20+1, and the rifle comes with two 20-round magazines to complete the package.
