The Model 116 uses a stainless-steel barreled action with a matte/brushed stainless finish and a 22-inch sporter contour barrel. It incorporates the Savage-style barrel locknut system, paired with a two-lug rotating bolt and round bolt knob for a familiar, proven setup.
Controls include a tang-mounted sliding safety with a red index dot for quick visual confirmation. This long-action configuration is chambered in .270 Win and feeds from a 4+1 capacity.
The black synthetic stock features molded checkering for grip, a Savage medallion inset at the pistol-grip cap/underside of the wrist, and sling swivel studs for easy sling or bipod attachment. Length of pull is 14.0 inches.
The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases, and this rifle comes with Leupold ringmounts (integral base-rings) ready to install. There are no iron sights, keeping the top of the receiver clean for optics.
