The FXH-45 pairs a Government-length 5-inch match-grade barrel made from 416 stainless steel with a polymer frame and 7075-T6 aluminum inserts. This hybrid construction targets durability with reduced weight, bringing the unloaded weight to about 27.5 oz and overall length to approximately 8.7 inches.
The slide wears a black nitride finish and incorporates a flat top, rear cocking serrations only, and lightening ports. It features dovetailed sights and comes with a red fiber-optic front and a plain black rear notch for a clear, high-contrast sight picture.
Optics-ready capability is built in via a removable top plate that accepts popular RMR and FastFire footprints. This allows direct mounting of compatible micro red dots without altering the slide.
Controls follow the 1911 format with single-action operation, an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, and a beavertail grip safety. The trigger is a skeletonized, three-hole aluminum unit.
Capacity is 8+1 using standard single-stack 1911 .45 ACP magazines. The dust cover includes an accessory rail with two cross-slots for mounting lights or lasers. The chamber hood is marked "45 AUTO," and the slide/frame carry "AMERICAN TACTICAL • SUMMERVILLE, SC" markings.
