The EMP4 architecture shortens the traditional 1911 action and is optimized for 9mm. This pistol is chambered in 9mm Luger with a 9+1 capacity and is made in the USA.
The 4-inch stainless steel barrel is match-grade and bull profile, with a bushingless setup and a fully supported ramp. It includes a loaded-chamber witness hole, full-length guide rod, and flat-wire recoil spring.
The slide wears a matte stainless finish and includes a lowered and flared ejection port. A dovetailed fiber-optic (orange) front sight remains in place, while the rear sight has been replaced by a Burris FastFire 3 miniature reflex optic mounted via a rear-dovetail adapter. This mount uses the dovetail and indicates no slide milling.
The aluminum-alloy frame has a hard-coat anodized black finish, textured front strap, and a flat checkered mainspring housing. Controls include a beavertail grip safety with memory pad, ambidextrous thumb safety, a long lightened trigger, and a skeletonized commander-style hammer. Checkered wood grip panels with the Springfield Armory logo complete the package, and the magazine well is beveled for easier reloads.
