This FN 509 Midsize MRD stands out with its factory Low-Profile Optics-Mounting System and tall steel sights, all finished in FDE. It is a U.S.-made, striker-fired 9mm with fully ambidextrous controls and a 4 inch, non-threaded barrel. This example features an installed aftermarket flat-faced trigger shoe and comes with six steel magazines plus OEM trigger components, two Kydex holsters, and the FN soft case.

The Midsize MRD FDE variant was introduced in 2020, drawing lineage from FN’s MHS development program. Markings observed on this pistol include 509, 9x19, the FN logo, and FN COLUMBIA, SC USA.
The slide is FDE with front and rear serrations and FN’s factory Low-Profile Optics-Mounting System; the MRD cover plate is installed. Tall steel iron sights with a serrated U-notch rear provide a clear sight picture.
The 4 inch barrel is non-threaded and features a recessed crown. The pistol is striker-fired, and this example has an installed aftermarket flat-faced trigger shoe; the original FN 509 OEM trigger components are included but not installed.
The FDE polymer frame has aggressive grip texture and interchangeable backstraps for fit tuning. Controls are fully ambidextrous with a slide stop and magazine release on both sides. A 3-slot Picatinny/MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail is integrated into the dustcover.
Capacity is 24+1 with the included 24-round magazine, and the package also includes multiple 17- and 15-round steel magazines for versatile use.
