As a first-generation Series '70 pistol made in 1971, this example falls in the 70G-prefix production run (1970–1976). It is a pre-Series 80 design that does not use a firing-pin safety, consistent with early Series '70 manufacturing.
Factory markings include MK IV/Series '70 legends on the slide and chamber hood and the Colt Hartford address rollmark on the frame. An inspector/assembler mark "A" is present at the forward right of the trigger guard.
Aftermarket updates consist of an adjustable target rear sight and wraparound checkered rubber "Signature Model" grips. The pistol retains a ramped front sight. Capacity is 8+1, and it includes one 8-round Chip McCormick magazine with an extended base pad.
