The FNX-40 is a full-size, polymer-frame pistol engineered with replaceable steel slide rails and an external ring hammer. Its DA/SA operating system pairs with a manual safety/decocker for flexible carry and control. All primary controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety/decocker, slide stop, and magazine release.
The 4.0 inch barrel uses a 1:16 twist. Notably, the factory test card notes a left-hand twist while the owner's manual lists right-hand, a detail preserved with this example's included documentation. Fixed 3-dot sights are dovetailed front and rear with white dots, and the sight radius measures 5.9 inches.
Capacity is 14+1, and this pistol comes with three factory 14-round steel magazines. Front and rear slide serrations provide positive purchase for manipulation, and the molded-checkered grip with interchangeable backstraps allows quick adjustment to hand size.
