What’s Included
- Original manual
This Katahdin configuration is factory-marked on the barrel top with "Katahdin ProHUNTER," and the S&W-era receiver reads "ENCORE / T/C ARMS / MFG BY S&W / SPFLD, MA." The barrel is roll-marked "THOMPSON/CENTER ROCHESTER, NH, USA .45-70 Gov't." These markings clearly identify the model, era, and chambering.
The 20-inch heavy-contour stainless barrel with twin shallow flutes and a recessed crown is unthreaded and unported. It is purpose-built for durability and balance in a compact, single-shot hunting package. Factory references list an overall length of approximately 34 inches and a weight around 5 lb 15 oz.
The break-action, single-shot design uses an external hammer and single-action operation with a 1-round capacity. Iron sights come standard: a ramped red fiber-optic front pairs with a Williams adjustable rear peep for a crisp sight picture in varied light.
The FlexTech synthetic stock and forend offer a black/gray finish with molded elastomer inserts, a Monte Carlo comb, finger-grooved pistol grip, and a LimbSaver recoil pad. This setup provides a comfortable 14.5-inch length of pull and practical field ergonomics.
As part of the Encore system, the receiver is compatible with other Encore/Pro Hunter barrels, extending its versatility within the platform while retaining the distinctive Katahdin .45-70 Gov't configuration shown here.
