The no-dash Model 66 represents the first stainless .357 Magnum in S&W’s K-frame Combat Magnum series. This 1972 example aligns with the era when the Model 66 saw broad U.S. law-enforcement adoption, offering a balance of durability, corrosion resistance, and duty-ready features.
The 4-inch heavy barrel is pinned and paired with an integral ejector-rod shroud. The top rib is serrated, while the top strap has an anti-glare treatment to reduce glare. Sight regulation comes from a pinned Baughman-style ramp front sight and a micrometer-click adjustable rear, providing a clear and practical sight picture.
Construction is all stainless steel for the frame, cylinder, and barrel. It uses a six-shot fluted cylinder and operates in double-action/single-action. Controls include a smooth-faced trigger and a checkered hammer spur for confident manipulation, plus a checkered cylinder latch and a knurled ejector-rod tip.
Classic S&W details include checkered walnut stocks with S&W medallions on a square-butt profile. Markings include the crane/yoke cut stamped "MOD. 66," a large S&W crest on the right sideplate, and the right-side frame legend "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." The yoke shows assembly number "38199" and a small "S" stamp. This stainless K-frame package reflects the Model 66’s defining service-era configuration.
